the quotidian (3.3.14)

Quotidian: daily, usual or customary;
everyday; ordinary; commonplace

They're an around-the-clock infatuation, especially for my youngest.

In search of a crock pot mac and cheese that
doesn't require pre-cooking the pasta and doesn't turn out gummy.
So far, no luck.

In the making: sloppy joes.

A candle-side marshmallow roast for one.

Late afternoon sky, by my older son.

Reading lesson.

Twins, in the shadow of the watch llama.

Happy Monday!

  1. I'm almost afraid to suggest my crockpot mace & cheese recipe - maybe it's one of the ones you have tried and rejected? Here 'tis:

    1. I haven't tried your recipe, no fear! It looks very similar to the one I tried. However, I see three distinctions. Yours calls for greasing the pot, doesn't require any stirring during cooking, and uses less milk. Could those things make a less-gummy mac and cheese? Not sure, but it might be worth a try...

(I like my mac and cheese to be creamy, not dry---maybe crock pots only make good dry mac and cheese? Anything creamy and they turn gummy? Oh, questions, questions!)

    2. I think you should add more milk to my recipe if you like creamy. I'm guessing you don't like overcooked pasta (I don't mind it in this application), so keep the cooking time as short as you can to get cooked pasta and up the liquid a little to get creamy. Let me know how it works out!

  2. I think noodles don't do well in the crockpot--I've tried a few recipes and can't get any of them to be right texture-wise.

But I know that if anyone can create the right recipe, it's you.

  3. This isn't a crockpot recipe, but it's my favorite that doens't require pre-cooking the noodles: Maybe it could be adapted to a crockpot?

    1. Mm, I love cottage cheese. Thanks for the heads-up!

    1. Nope, that's the the neighbors' farmyard and critters. My girl loves that llama, though.

  5. I made buns tonight for drippy Italian Beef sandwiches! Yum! Please share any recipe that you deem fit to eat for crock pot mac n cheese. I'll share my Sloppy Joes recipe with you soon. Just a few little differences than what you make. I'd like to know what you think of mine.

  6. I've used this crock pot mac-n-cheese recipe half dozen times
