the quotidian (7.17.17)

Quotidian: daily, usual or customary;
everyday; ordinary; commonplace

Grill-ready.

Compost bouquet.

Chard mountain: and then I steamed it down to nothing.

When writers gather.

Chocolate bread: a baking experiment of his very own.

We're hooked.

Maintaining his (much-neglected) corn patch.

Washing wool = hours of work.

Reading glasses (my old ones): yet another twist in the downhill spiral to the grave.

Riverside: the moms' spot.
(There was a secret stash of Oreos, too.)

Cotton candy sky.

This same time, years previous: the quotidian (7.18.16), ouch, apricot pie, this new season, the quotidian (7.16.12), roasted beet salad with cumin and mint, Jeni's best ever vanilla ice cream, pasta with roasted tomatoes and summer squash, counting chicks.

  1. I remember reading Trinity about a million years ago! I was so inspired, I named all my newborn puppies after characters in the book!

  2. If you like dried mangos, Costco has dark chocolate covered dried mangos. Maybe the best treat on the planet!

    1. I've had those chocolate mangos, but these---the ones without chocolate---I like even better. Maybe because they're not as rich so I can eat more of them? They make an excellent substitute for my gummy candy addiction.

  3. It's amazing how much a big pile of greens can shrink isn't it? Beautiful sky capture in the last photo!

  4. Did you like the chocolate bread experiment?

    1. It actually wasn't bad! I had him write down his recipe first and then I helped him tweak it, adding important ingredients like sugar and salt. The resulting loaves had a good texture, but the bread was a bit dry, and the chocolate flavor too deep, for his liking.
