the quotidian (6.9.14)

Quotidian: daily, usual or customary;
everyday; ordinary; commonplace

A gift from a friend: delivered to my door.
One batch of concentrate down. Several more to go. (I hope.)

The view from my post-run stretching position.

All the flowers in all the cups.

So far so good.

SCORE!
This is what happens when you have a friend who is a 7th grade English teacher
and she wants her personal library to get some use over the summer.

My solution to the no-wrapping-paper situation.

This same time, years previous: thorns, last Sunday morning, playing hard, Jeni's chocolate ice cream, mint tea concentrate, and tumbling down.

  1. We love that tea! My Brethren family always called it "Mennonite Mint". When my dad was a boy in VA, he worked on harvest crews with O.O. Mennonites. On their farms, the women would bring out huge buckets of the stuff at break time. It had black tea mixed in and was sweeter'n heck, apparently. "Make your back teeth ache," says Dad. My own grandmother's recipe called for 1 1/2 c. sugar per gallon and that was drunk straight up. Not a concentrate!

  2. This sounds lovely! Almost worth planting mint and having it take over the yard. I will have to procure some mint.

  3. Wrapping paper is totally overrated. I like using cereal boxes myself. :)

  4. I always enjoy your *quotidian* posts. Your upside-down view is great. One question...did you come up with that title yourself...or, did you see it somewhere? Do you mind if I *borrow* it and link to you? Hugs, Camille

    1. I brainstormed the title with my mom. I thought of things like "everyday" or "ordinary" but it just didn't have the right umph. Years before, I had read about "quotidian" in a book (a devotional, perhaps?)---it seemed fitting...and here we are!

      Of course you may use it. 'Twould be an honor.

    2. I didn't think I had seen it used anywhere else. And it made sense to me that it was yours. I cannot tell you how many times recently I have come very close to using that title for my posts....it just fits. Perhaps it will appear soon and yes...I will link to you if I do use it. Thank you. Hugs. :)
